What are the benefits of using stainless steel pegs?

At Wear & Repeat we are so proud to stock some of the most stylish stainless steel pegs Australia has to offer. Although these pegs are super fancy, they’re not just about looks. They hold a wide range of other benefits including:

  • Wonder Woman level strength. With care, they’ll last a lifetime. No need to keep buying sets of pegs every few months or years. These will stick with you for life!
  • Durability. These metal clothes pegs are made from one long piece of wire – no little bits and pieces. They’re virtually unbreakable.
  • Gentle on the Mother Nature. Using these eco pegs will help reduce the 5 billion tonnes of landfill that pollutes our natural environments each and every year.
  • Save money and energy. Air drying is a much more cost-effective alternative to using a dryer.
  • Reduce wear and tear on clothes. Drying clothes in a machine is the fastest way to damage them and reduce their life expectancy. Using these sustainable clothes pegs and air drying instead will help your clothes maintain their lease on life!

Do stainless steel pegs rust?

Some stainless steel clothes pegs are susceptible to rust like the lower 201 grade products. Our products, however, are made from 304 grade and 316 marine grade stainless steel. In other words, rust has no chance of making an appearance on these bad boys.

Both the rose gold coloured and silver clothes pegs in our range are rust resistant, so it is possible for pegs to be both functional and fancy at the same time!

What is the difference between 304 and 316 grade stainless steel?

Both 304 and 316 grade stainless steel are super hearty and resistant to rust, oxidation and breakages.

The difference between these two strong metal clothes pegs is that the 304 grade requires a little extra care in order to last a lifetime.

If you live by the sea, it’s important to bring any 304 grade pegs inside when they’re not in use. Salty air may cause slight wear and tear on these otherwise indestructible babes. You could say it’s their kryptonite.

The 316 marine grade pegs can be left out in any and all conditions including salty water. They’re called marine grade pegs for a reason – they thrive around the ocean.

Why should I use marine grade?

If you live within 5km of the ocean, you may want to consider investing in some marine grade stainless steel pegs. Sea spray can be present in the air within this range so coastal dwellers and people in the hinterlands would absolutely benefit from these saltwater resistant pegs.

Do stainless steel pegs get hot?

Good news, everyone! Stainless steel laundry pegs are resistant to heat.

You’ll be able to easily collect your laundry from the line in even the hottest and driest of Aussie summers. Your fingers and the fingers of any little ones helping with the washing will be safe from summertime burns.

Will the pegs blow off the line in windy conditions?

Hell no! These pegs will stick to your line like glue, while still treating your clothes with the utmost care and respect. Short of a hurricane coming along a ripping your clothesline from the ground, these pegs (and your clothes) won’t be going anywhere.

Are stainless steel pegs hard to use?

Because they’re made of tough metal, these laundry pegs are a little stiffer than your run-of-the-mill plastic pegs. In saying that, they are just as easy to open and use. They’ll easily work with you to make sure your clothes are safe and secure on the line until they’re nice and dry.

Which size pegs should I buy?

It’s good to have a mix of both the regular and large sized high-quality clothes pegs from our collection in order to cover all your clothing and linen needs.

The regular sized pegs are perfectly suited to holding tees, skirts, shorts, undies, camis and other small to medium sized clothes.

The larger pegs will easily carry bulkier items like jumpers, trackies, blankets, towels, jeans and anything else you find needs a little extra oomph to hold when they’ve soaked up water.
